°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Thames Valley Section Christmas Lecture

8 December 2011, Reading, United Kingdom

Introduction
For many years people have been enjoying fireworks, but what is the science behind these dazzling spectacles?
Why do rockets roar and other fireworks quietly crackle?

Professor Jackie Akhavan, of Cranfield University, Shrivenham, UK, whose speciality is high explosives and munitions, explains what makes those stunning displays go off with a bang and demonstrates how to make the perfect firework.
Includes live demonstrations so may not be suitable for those with sensitive hearing or a nervous disposition.
The event is aimed at children of school age with their families, although grown up children will enjoy it too!
