The Times Cheltenham Science Festival 2012

Introduction
This summer, more than 300 of the world's greatest scientists, thinkers, comedians and writers and will come together to celebrate and explore all things scientific.


Reborn, renewed and better than ever before, The Times Cheltenham Science Festival is bound to delight visitors of every generation with a dazzling programme of debate, experiments and mind-blowing science.


This year's theme will be 'Re:Generation', exploring notions of urban redevelopment, metamorphoses in nature and the endless possibilities of evolution and adaptation.


The six-day programme will feature a mix of cutting edge discoveries, provocative debates, comedy, cabaret, family fun, hands-on experiments and workshops with topics ranging from medicine to technology, economic recovery to energy and the role of science in our ever regenerating society. It will also welcome the FameLab International final, which is on a quest to find the world's next big scientific stars.


The 2012 Guest Directors are comedian Marcus Brigstocke and space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, who amongst many others will be bringing innovation and inspiration to the Festival, working to unveil a programme of world-renowned speakers, thought-provoking exhibits and hands-on fun for all.
