With more than 30 years applied healthcare experience as a biomedical scientist, David Browning is expert in developing and bringing innovative technologies to market. His portfolio includes leadership roles within Ortho Clinical Diagnostics (a Johnson and Johnson company), Kodak Clinical Diagnostics, Amersham International, Philips Healthcare Consumer Lifestyle and Oxonica Healthcare Ltd.


Eleanore Irvine, Biogelx Ltd, United Kingdom

Eleanore Irvine directs development of the Biogelx product range through in-house activities and the management of a network of collaborative relationships with academic and industrial cell biology partners. Eleanore is a PhD chemist from the University of Strathclyde, specialising in nanochemistry and recently completed a Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellowship.


Sam Whitehouse, QuantuMDX, United Kingdom

Dr Sam Whitehouse has over 10 years' biotech and medical devices experience including industrial research, managing a large portfolio of academic-industry biotech collaborations and managing UK government grant portfolios. Graduating with a PhD in chemistry he is a synthetic and surface chemist specialist. Currently he is Group COO of QuantuMDx technologies and NorthGene Ltd, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.


Sara Cooper, Vice-Chair of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Environment, Health & Safety Committee, United Kingdom

Sara has worked in both the commercial and research sectors, and has served throughout her career on several expert committees in the UK and the EU. As a safety professional she specialises as a consultant in delivering the safety message through executive, director and management training, and in bringing a realistic approach to safety education in the laboratory environment. 


Richard White, Intertek, United Kingdom

Richard White is part of the Health and Environmental Regulatory Services Group within Intertek.
As REACH project manager, he specialises in the development of Chemical Safety Assessments (CSA) and Reports (CSR), IUCLID dossier preparation, validation and submission along with other related areas of work such as Safety Data Sheets and the Transport of Dangerous Goods regulations.
Intertek Health, Environmental and Regulatory Services provide a comprehensive regulatory resource for customers to develop and implement worldwide regulatory strategies. It is independent from laboratory testing houses and includes services related to new product introductions, data development as well as compliance of existing products with local and global regulations, including REACH, Food Contact Compliance / Notifications, Global Chemicals Management, Design and Optimization of Tox & Ecotox Tests, Global Legislation Development and Training 


Mark Selby, Denehurst Chemical Safety Ltd, United Kingdom

Mark Selby has worked in the area of regulatory science for nearly 30 years, starting with a UK-based speciality chemical manufacturer before working for 10 years at a major international contract research organisation.  
Working for the last 13 years as an independent consultant with Denehurst Chemical Safety Ltd, Mark provides training and advice on the use of data for classification and labelling and for environmental and workplace risk assessments in support of a range of EU chemical supply legislation including SDS.  Mark is also working with REACHReady as part of their industry help desk and is a regular author of technical guidance.


Steven Lipworth, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼, United Kingdom

Steven Lipworth is a policy adviser to the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼'s Environment Health and Safety Committee. Steven has a background in marine ecotoxicology and environmental economics. Prior to joining the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼, Steven worked in the field of coastal zone management and protection. In 1997 Steven was awarded a three year Wellcome Fellowship in Science Advice at the Royal Society. Thereafter he entered the consultancy sector and conducted policy projects for a wide range of technology-based organizations. Steven's professional interests lie in the areas of risk management, strategic planning, and professional development. 


Paul Whitehead, WCA Environment Ltd, United Kingdom

Paul Whitehead is a Director for WCA Environment Ltd, an independent consultancy company providing advice on the fate and effects of chemicals in the natural and industrial environments. He qualified as an American Board Certified Toxicologist (1992-2012) and has spent many years practising toxicology and product stewardship in various industries, including the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. In recent years he has worked in the speciality paper industry and the lubricant business sector. Paul is a Fellow of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼, and Chairman of its Environment, Health & Safety Committee.


Ian Wrightson, Zurich Risk Engineering UK, United Kingdom

Dr Ian Wrightson has been employed by Zurich Risk Engineering UK since 1990 and is a Senior Risk Consultant. Prior to 1990 he spent 15 years with the Health and Safety Executive as one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of Factories. Ian is Joint Vice-Chairman of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼'s Environment, Health and Safety Committee (EHSC) and is the Chairman of the Working Group on Environment, Health and Safety Committee Notes. He was the Chief External Examiner for the BSc degree in Occupational Health and Safety at Leeds Metropolitan University from 1994 to 1998. Ian has published numerous papers and articles for professional journals and has contributed chapters for two books on health and safety.
