The Graham Lecture is awarded, biennially, to a scientist working in the UK who is in the prime of their research career, has established an international reputation in colloid science, and has already made distinguished contributions to the field of colloid science. In addition to hearing great presentations and the opportunity to contribute a poster, there is plenty scope for networking. The 2025 awardee is Dr Alex Routh from the University of Cambridge.
The symposium for 2025 will feature a range of speakers from industry and academia, highlighting colloidal research on industrial processes and procedures.
This event will be of interest to academics, students and industrialists working in the fields of physical chemistry, colloid and interface science.
10.00 Welcome and introduction
10.15 Friction modification with Alex: a symphony of neutrons, structures and contrast
Dr Tom McCoy, University of Delft
10.50 Title to be confirmed
Prof Lisa Hall, University of Cambridge
11.25 Refreshment break
11.50 The potential of deep, unconventional geothermal
Dr Kuhan Chellappah, BP
12.25 Measuring depletion interactions in colloid–polymer mixtures
Dr Clare Rees-Zimmerman, University of Oxford
13.00 Lunch
14.15 Glove story - the physics & chemistry of dipping with Nitrile latex
Bob Groves, University of Cambridge
14.50 Drying blood droplets: an informative colloidal system?
Sheila Bhatt, University of Cambridge
15.25 Refreshment break
16.00 Colloidal collaborations
Dr Alex Routh, University of Cambridge
17.00 Event close
