AAK - Edible Oil Refiners

27 June 2024 18:30-20:00, Hull, United Kingdom

Introduction
AAK, formerly AarhusKarlshamn, is a global Sweden-based company with 3800 employees worldwide.  It has a large factory on the King George Dock in Hull producing vegetable oils and fats for the food industry.

These products are used in the majority of cake, bread, chocolate and many other foodstuffs in the UK including all the major brands, retailer own-brands and foodservice chains.

This talk will describe the refining processes used and how the oils and fats can be used to enhance foods.  As well as supplying vegetable oil to major food manufacturers, the scientists in AAK labs work to solve current consumer challenges such as products with reduced fat, reduced saturated fat and reduced sugar; increased shelf-life, reduced carbon footprints and vegan products.  Samples from their development kitchen will be provided.

For more information, please contact the Local Section Secretary at pcaygill26@gmail.com or by phone on 01482 783978.

This talk is open to all members and friends.  Easy disabled access with nearby free parking.  Refreshments will be provided free of charge.  For catering purposes, it would be useful to let the Secretary know if you are coming along.
