BIAPWS - Water/Steam Cycle Chemistry for Power and Energy from Waste Plants

8 July 2021 10:00-12:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
On Thursday 8th July, 10-12am, the British and Irish Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (BIAPWS.org) will be hosting a technical seminar. See below the email for more information on BIAPWS.

The theme of this seminar is Water/Steam Cycle Chemistry for Power and EfW Plants, with 4 presentations covering everything from general aspects of the topic to case studies and practical experience. It is aimed at an audience of power plant chemists as well as engineers responsible for water chemistry at EfW and industrial plants. The full agenda and dial in details will be circulated nearer to the event.

The seminar is free for both BIAPWS members and non-members, with the hope that this will raise awareness of BIAPWS. Please contact biapwschair@yahoo.com to register interest.

The British and Irish Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (BIAPWS) aims to advance the knowledge in the properties of water, steam and aqueous systems, particularly those of interest to industry.  BIAPWS is the leading representative body for Power Plant Chemistry in the UK and Ireland.

We are a voluntary, non-profit making organisation.  Our members include universities, research institutes and industrial companies, so allowing knowledge to be shared amongst engineers, scientists, academics and industry.

Our activities include the organising of meetings, symposia and conferences in order to share and exchange knowledge; the sponsorship of student placements and schools science events to raise awareness and to promote career opportunities in our members' industries; and to provide representation on various standards committees relevant to our members.

BIAPWS membership is particularly strong in the area of power plant chemistry, which is reflected in a number of our current activities.  BIAPWS remains the only independent body within the UK and Ireland providing a forum for sharing information and experience on power plant chemistry.  Support is provided by a significant number of industrial sponsors and suppliers, many of whom are active in the global power generation industry.

Our members include universities and organisations who are typically involved in a range of activities covering research into the fundamental properties of water, steam and aqueous systems, international work on the standardisation of terms and definitions, through to pioneering research on molecular engineering.

We are affiliated to the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) and share objectives to advance knowledge in common areas of interest.
