The Astrochemistry Group invites you to the 2021 annual meeting, to be held virtually and hosted by the University of Leeds, from 16th to 18th June 2021. The meeting, on the topic of 鈥淎strochemistry in the JWST era鈥 will also include the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Astrochemistry Group on 17th June 2021. We welcome all contributions on the theme of astrochemistry including observations, modelling, experiments, and instrumentation. There are 12 contributed talk slots available over the course of the meeting and abstract submission is due by 1 June.
October 2021 will see the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the next state-of-the-art observational telescope at infra-red wavelengths. JWST is expected to revolutionise the study of the chemistry and composition of interstellar clouds, star forming environments, and the atmospheres of gas-giant exoplanets. The interpretation of these state-of-the-art data requires vital input from both laboratory experiments and computational calculations.
In this joint 澳门六合彩开奖记录/RAS meeting, and as a look forward to the launch of JWST, we have invited speakers with expertise in JWST observations and instrumentation (Dr Pamela Klaassen, Dr Libby Jones, and Dr Olivia Johnson, UK Astronomy Technology Centre), laboratory experiments on solid-state infrared spectroscopy (Professor Harold Linnartz, Leiden), and computational models of molecular spectra at infra-red wavelengths (Professor Jonathan Tennyson, UCL). We also invite contributions from all areas of astrochemistry, and in particular would like to encourage emerging (post-graduate and post-doctoral) researchers in astrochemistry to attend the meeting and present their work to the community.
The meeting will be held virtually using Zoom. The link to connect will be shared with registered participants only. The schedule will be confirmed by Monday 7th June. Registration will be available until 16:00 UTC on Monday 14th June. There is no registration fee.
