New Frontiers in Elemental Bioimaging

19 July 2019 09:00-15:30, London , United Kingdom

Introduction
Elemental Bioimaging is a rapidly expanding field with significant value for fundamental scientific questions regarding cell fate and health, trace element metabolism, and for translational science in diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. Supported by new analytical advances in mass spec imaging and with the further addition of spectroscopy and microscopy, we can now see elements within complex biological matrices. This is complemented by information about associated molecules and their structures, covering ever-greater sensitivities and spatial resolutions to address structural, functional and quantitative questions from the atomic level to whole body processes.

This workshop is intended to introduce the biological community to a new set of analytical tools being offered at the London Metallomics Facility (LMF) and how such analytics can be integrated into the existing portfolio of imaging techniques provided by the Nikon Imaging Centre (NIC), Microscopy Innovation Centre (MIC) and Centre for Ultrastructural Imaging (CUI).
