By kind permission of the National Fruit Collection Trust who have funded this unique scientific trial, the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Kent Local Section have organised a visit to their Brogdale Farm climate change orchard where 20 apple varieties representing a wide range of genetic variation of this ubiquitous fruit are being grown in polytunnels under 3 different temperature and 3 different irrigation regimes mimicking potential UK climate change over the next few decades.
We will meet at 1pm in the Russet Room at Brogdale Farm for a buffet lunch & tea/coffee followed by an introductory talk then a walking tour of the orchard. Please come prepared for the vagaries of the British weather and be aware that you will encounter uneven surfaces in the orchards. This visit may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties – please consult the organiser below if you have limited mobility.
Both °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Members and guests are welcome both at a price of £10.00 per person.
