Food for Thought

3 November 2008, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
Join SCI's Food Commodities and Ingredients Group (FCIG) at this unmissable evening event. Attendance is free and a buffet dinner will be provided.
Rachel Edwards-Stuart, awarded winner of the IFST Young Scientists Competition, will begin the evening's presentations by talking us through her paper on the 'Evaluation of the use of methylcelluloses for potential restaurant applications'. Following this, Professor Glenn Gibson will offer an overview on the critical role of gut bacteria in promoting health. He will discuss the positive and negative aspects of how these microbes interact with the food we eat, as well as how a diet for sustainable health can be put together considering the effects of food intake on these bacteria.
