Local Section AGM to be followed by a short talk:

The talk following the AGM is specifically about Britain's earliest oil wells and our earliest oil history. So covering:

- The history of Britain's very first successful Oil well, sunk almost a century ago – where was it, who was involved, where did the technology come from?.
- The second oilfield in Nottinghamshire which came into operation just as WW2 started, and which was one of the greatest secrets during the war – 200 oil wells in full production in Sherwood Forest
- The development of refining technology, first developed in Britain over 150 years ago, technology which was to sweep the world within 10 years. Which of our famous chemists was involved, where did it take place, why did it happen?

Those attending will hear about:

- the location of the first Fracking to take place in Britain – 90 years ago! Really?
Britain's first oil industry related death – When was this, where, why did it happen?
